What is the link between restless leg syndrome and ADHD?

I think my son has restless leg syndrome. My friend told me that restless leg syndrome might be linked with ADHD. What could this link be? Could my son's restless leg syndrome be indicative of some other problem? He is only ten.

If your son complains of leg jerks, leg discomfort, or leg pain, consult a sleep specialist. It may be that his hyperactivity could be related to poor, disrupted, non-restorative sleep.

There isn't a proven link; however, it is suggested that restless leg syndrome can cause insomnia. Having pain and an inability to sleep well can cause sleep fragmentation and symptoms of ADHD. A second suggestion is the leg pain can become uncomfortable during school. Walking relieves the discomfort; however, an inability to concentrate due to the pain is another hypothesis.
