What can I do to stop waking up in the middle of the night?

I have no problem falling asleep, but for some reason I have been waking up between 2 and 3 a.m. I am then able to fall back asleep until my alarm goes off later in the morning. What might be causing me to wake up at a specific time in the middle of the night and how can I stop it from occurring?

There are many things that could be waking you up at night. Breathing issues, leg jerks. Are there dogs barking close by or other external noises? Also, what time are you going to bed at night? If this is causing a significant problem, you may consider speaking with your physician or a board certified sleep specialist about this.
