I can't fall into a deep sleep, and if I do, I hear a noise then am up for the rest of the night. I start to sleep then I wake up and stay awake for the rest of the night. I toss and turn and feel bad for the rest of the next day.

If you are a light sleeper then removing the environmental problem that is disturbing you is the first essential thing to do. If you are still waking up then ear plugs or using white noise machine may be o benefit. Using medications to help fall and maintain sleep is a last resort.
