Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and my body is drenched with sweat. Other times I just wake up in the morning and find that I was sweating excessively during the night. What could be the cause of this and what are some possible solutions?

There could be several explanations for the sweating. Evaluation with a sleep disorder specialist will allow you to correlate your medical history with symptoms to determine cause/treatment.
Sweats can be caused by sleep apnea, menopause, pregnancy and any number of things. Taking notice of your room temperature and bed covers is the place to start.
