What can I do about night terrors?

I have night terrors at least twice a week. I wake up with a pounding heart and can't even remember what my dream was about. Why am I having so many night terrors? What can I do to treat them, or at least make them happen less often?

Firstly, you should see a board-certified sleep specialist and have an in-depth consultation. Then, you can go forward. It is possible that medication may be the solution to your problem. In the mean time, you can keep a sleep diary and try to determine if there are any triggers in your routine that are making the night terrors more frequent or severe. Your physician will most likely want to review the sleep diary at your first appointment.
