Sleep Specialist William M. Katz

William M. Katz is the Medical Director of the Borgess Sleep Disorders Center. Dr. Katz is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Sleep Medicine and Pulmonary Disease. He earned his medical degree from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Dr. Katz then conducted his residency in Internal Medicine at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center and St. Mary’s Hospital, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dr. Katz completed his fellowship in Pulmonary Diseases in Washington, D.C. at George Washington University. He also conducted his fellowship in Sleep Medicine in Detroit at Henry Ford Hospital. Dr. Katz serves as the Metro Health Sleep Disorders Laboratory Medical Director, and has served in that capacity since 2007. He also served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine for almost two decades.

Sleep Specialist Alice F. Doe

Alice F. Doe is a Sleep Specialist at the Borgess Sleep Disorders Center. Dr. Doe earned her medical degree from Carol Davila University of Medicine in Romania in 2002. She then completed her residency in Internal Medicine and her Sleep Disorders Medicine fellowship at Detroit’s Henry Ford Hospital. She has received board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in Sleep Medicine and Internal Medicine. Dr. Doe has served as the Medical Director for three of Sleep Diagnostic of Michigan’s sleep centers located in Northern Michigan since 2008. She is particularly interested in the treatment of pediatric sleep disorders, excessive daytime sleepiness, and the utilization of cognitive behavioral therapy for treating insomnia. Such sleep problems can lead to medical illnesses, on the job accidents, and can result in diminished job performance. The Borgess Sleep Disorders Center is equipped to fully diagnose and treat a number of sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, narcolepsy, Periodic Limb Movement Disorder (PLMS), and insomnia. In order to diagnose and treat these disorders, the Center’s registered sleep technologists utilize basic polysomnography (sleep studies), Continuous Airway Pressure Titration Studies (CPAP), Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT), and Maintenance Wakefulness Tests (MWT). Following each patient’s treatment, doctors may schedule follow up appointments with one of the Center’s Board Certified sleep specialists.

    The Borgess Sleep Disorders Center participates with Blue Shield of Michigan, Medicare, Medicaid, and various other commercial insurance plans. Patients without insurance should contact the Borgess Sleep Disorders Center for payment arrangements prior to their appointments.
