Susan M. Welch is a sleep apnea dentist and the Medical Director at Wright Parkway Dental Center, a dentistry practice located in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Dr. Susan Welch has more than 14 years of clinical experience treating patients with all of their oral healthcare needs. She sincerely cares about the overall health of her patients and works with other local dental and medical specialists to ensure that patients maximize the health of their entire body. Each of Dr. Welch’s patients represents more than just a smile, but a whole person with individual concerns and needs. Dr. Welch utilizes this individualized approach when treating patients suffering from sleep apnea and other problems.

Dr. Welch originally came to the Fort Walton Beach area after serving in the United States Air Force Dental Corps for 7 years. As a military veteran, Dr. Welch has the utmost gratitude for the services of the military as well as their family members. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University in 1992, where she graduated Cum Laude and with honors. She earned a full academic and athletic scholarship playing volleyball at Ball State University. Following her undergraduate education, Dr. Welch earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 1996 from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

Dr. Welch completed her general residency dentistry program in 1997 and then joined the Air Force, serving at Hurlburt Field and in Osan, Korea. She was awarded the Junior Dental Officer of the Year Award in 1999, which is the top honor given to Junior Dental Officers with a rank of Major or Captain. Dr. Welch separated from the Air Force in 2003 in order to stay in the area with her husband Brian, who served 21 years in Air Force Special Operations.

Dr. Welch is passionate about dental care and stays up to date with the newest medical technologies in her field. Due to her continuing education studies, Dr. Welch has become a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. She has concentrated her continuing education on Sleep Apnea Appliance Therapy, Chronic Head and Neck Pain, and Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ) Disorders. Dr. Welch has completed Mini Residency training and testing for Sleep Dentistry, TMJ Disorders, and Orthodontics. Dr. Welch has presented lectures about sleep dentistry to her local Dental Study Club.

Dr. Welch is active with the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, American Dental Association, American Academy of Women Dentists, and the Christian Medical Dental Association. Dr. Welch is also a member of affiliates of the Florida and Okaloosa-Walton Dental Society. Additionally, Wright Parkway Dental Center maintains an Excellent Standing with the Better Business Bureau and is a member of the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce.
